Raval landscape is a mix of cultures where museums like MACBA or CCCB are obligatory stops of a tour full of contemporary art with art galleries, workshops, design studios, specialist libraries, cultural venues, gastronomic spaces or new fashion shops with the youngest and cosmopolitan atmosphere of Barcelona.
The Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA) is considered one of the best museums in Europe and is the pure model of rehabilitation. Downstairs, La Central of MACBA is an extraordinary bookstore specialized in contemporary art and in the same square dels Angels, you will also find the showroom La Capella, an old church with free access.
On the other side of the square, you will se the Centre of Contemporary Culture (CCCB), which promotes various cultural projects, from theatre and dance to cinema and debates. And in front of the CCCB, there is the Geography and History Faculty, opened in 2006 and currently a breath of fresh air to the Raval neighbourhood.
Do not miss the effervescent Joaquín Costa street with plenty of small bars or Pintor Fortuny street where you can taste tapas of Bar Lobo or Luzia. And for shopping, Riera Baixa street offers a paradise for fashion vintage addicts like Le Swing or Holala! You will also find second-hand compact discs in Edison ‘s or Wha Wha.
Remember Saturday is the perfect day to get lost in the streets of Raval which is full of little stores in the middle of the streets where you can drink a coffee, tea or have other products at lower prices. Take a walk from our five star hotel until the end of Paseo de Gracia and discover Barcelona!
