25/7/14 Jamboree Duet fusions jazz with other music styles
This week, and until 27 July, the Jamboree Duets music sessions take place in Jamboree club, as part of Barcelona Grec Festival 2014. Concerts mix jazz with several music genres thanks to two artists, each one with his own style. Despite that, they try to find a common musical territory.
The concert series began last Tuesday (22 July) and will end this weekend. Tonight it is Gemma Abrié and Miquel Àngel Corder turn, with an unusual double bass and voices combination in order to do a music tour from jazz to pop, through traditional Catalan music.
On Saturday, The Supremes’ singer Violeta Curry and the pianist Jaume Vilaseca will pay tribute to the African-American music culture. Finally, Sofia Ribeiro and Bartolomeo Barenghi will play on Sunday evening. The new voice of Portuguese music and the warm guitar of the Italian artist will remind musicians as Ella Fitzgerald or Amália Rodrigues, mixing jazz and fado.
There are two sessions for each performance (at 8pm and at 10pm), in one of the mythical jazz club in Barcelona, the Jamboree, located in Plaça Reial, at Gothic neighborhood. An exciting musical appointment with duets that jazz fans can not miss.
