4/7/14 Open air cinema for Barcelona summer nights
With the arrival of summer, Barcelona citizens enjoy movies in an original and appealing way. Sala Montjuïc is the name of the popular open-air film festival that takes place under the Barcelona sky. Thousands of people meet at Montjuïc Castle, in particular at the Santa Eulàlia ditch, every year to enjoy culture in the beautiful outdoors of Barcelona.
Sala Montjuïc, also known as “Cinema a la fresca” (Outdoor cinema in English), give people the opportunity to watch important and classic films of the international scene, with a variety of genres and countries, always in it’s original language with subtitles.
This year, on its 12th edition, the selection includes titles such as Blue Jasmine (by Woody Allen) and Django Unchained (by Tarantino), recent French films such as Dains la maison (At home) or Blue is the warmest color or classics like Breakfast at Tiffany’s and The Godfather.
The ticket costs 6 Euros and it gives access to the big garden that goes around the castle, a perfect place to have a picnic while enjoying concerts, which will begin at 8.45pm. Films will take place after the projection of a short film, which will take place at 10pm. This year the quality will be excellent thanks to a new HD screen.
As every year, there will be a free bus service from Espanya Square to the Montjuïc Castle. It will be on service from 8.30pm and will return once the film has finished.
If you are in our five star hotel in Barcelona, Hotel Omm, in July, we recommend you to go to Sala Montjuïc. It has become a summer classic and nobody wants to miss it.
