9/10 Terra Ignis, Miquel Barceló exposition
The Musée d’Art Moderne of Céret, in the French region of Languedoc-Rosellón, will host from the 29th of June to 12th of November the exposition Terra Ignis by Miguel Barceló.
Terra Ignis or work of fire for others is the last collection made by the artist between 2009 and 2013 in Mallorca. This exposition is composed by almost one hundred unique fired clay pieces. In artist and sculptor words, fired clay is not the same as ceramic because this last one is the thing that makes the piece shinier. Miquel Barceló sculptures are different than others because they don’t have that enamel.
Pieces are big and remind of the human condition. For example, skulls and deformed heads evoke to human fragility while the big broken jars and glasses evoke to the dangerous and ephemeral things.
On the other hand, in the unique pieces exposed in the Musée d’Art Moderne of Céret you can see the African style on them like the colours, the fired clay and the paintings that remind of weather, nature and continent landscape.
The Mallorquín is considered one of the most important and international artists with a lot of awards like the Spanish one that he won in 2003, the Príncipe de Asturias de las Artes award.
From our Barcelona luxury hotel, we encourage you to go to France, our neighbour country known by its lands and art, and visit Terra Ignis, the exposition of Miquel Barceló.
