3/7/13 The Castell de Peralada Festival: a wide range of musical genres

Starting next July 13th until August 17th will take place the 27th edition of the Castell de Peralada International Music Festival in the city located in Gerona and with more musical genres than ever.

For many, the Festival Castell de Peralada (PeraladaCastle Festival) is synonym of opera and ballet and this year is not going to be less. On July 13th starts the festival with the opening show of Verdi’s Misa de Réquiem, where are gathered together the voices of the soprano Eva-María Westbroek, the tenor Giuseppe Filianoti, the mezzo Luciana D’ Intino and the bass of Michele Pertusi, accompanied by the Orchestra and the Choir of the Gran Teatro del Liceo, under the direction of Josep Pons.

But the great surprise is the premier in Spain of La prohibición de amar, the first opera premiered by Richards Wagner and that can be seen on August 3rd and 4th, a version with the stage direction of Georglos Kapoglou.

However, apart from the lyric offer that commemorates the bicentenary of the birth of Verdi and Wagner, the program also holds jazz, dance, swing and even pop concerts. In this sense, Miguel Bosé will be present one more time, next July 20th, this time with his show Papitwo. Paco de Lucía will also delight us with his guitar on August 9th.

The swing notes will arrive on August 10th by the hand of La Locomotora Negra where Andrea Motis and Joan Chamorro will surprise the attendants with their unrivalled sound of trumpets, sax and a great voice choir. And to finish, the known band Manel will perform on August 17th to present their last album, “Atletes baixin de l’escenari”.

The Festival Castell de Peralada celebrates every year since 1987, becoming one of the most important cultural events during the summer in the international scene.
