26/6 The Costa Brava holds one more year the Festival de Cap Roig
Next July 20th starts the mythical Festival de Cap Roig, a festival that takes place in the Costa Brava where you can immerge in nature and breathe fresh air.
In a Little while starts one of the most peculiar events in Spain, the Festival Cap Roig because unlike other festivals, this one takes place is a dream landscape. The open air auditorium at the botanic garden in Cap Roig, in the Costa Brava, is a privileged place for those that love nature, the sea and peace.
Also, you can breathe history since the Cap Roig’s castle and botanic garden origins go back to 1927, when a Russian coronel named Nicolai Woevodsky, an architecture enthusiast, and his wife, the English aristocrat Dorothy Webster, decorator and gardening enthusiast, decided to leave behind their life in London to build their dream house on a cliff from where can be seen the best views of the Costa Brava.
This 2013 edition starts on July, 20th and ends on August, 16th, almost 30 days dedicated to music in a unique place in the Mediterranean. The concert opening the festival comes from the hand of the renowned British singer-songwriter and piano player, Sir Elton John. The program along these days will delight us with other contemporary artists, renowned worldwide. The Catalan pop music band, Manel, will also be present in this festival, presenting its last record, “Atletes, baixin de l’escenari”.
In the festival’s billboard, very varied, there are also artists like the Scottish Mark Knopfler; the group’s soul Dire Straits is still strong after thirty-five years in the music business. Other artist such as Rosario Flores, Enrique Iglesias, Melendi or Fito&Fitipaldis, among others, will bring the summer nights in Cap Roig to live which one more time will trust the gastronomic experience to the Celler de Can Roca, specialized in traditional Catalan food.
Considered the best restaurant in the world with three Michelin stars, the advisors in the Hotel Omm’s restaurants, Roca Moo and Roca Bar, provide to the Festival’s public all their talent with two gastronomic proposals: on one side , a formal proposal that consist in having dinner in the open air with a light and Mediterranean menu and on the other side, one more informal with a varied selection of sandwiches and accompaniments.
Finnaly, one of the news for this edition is the Cap Roig Mini, a proposal that has as its main protagonists the little ones so parents and children can enjoy together the concerts in the afternoon.
