22/8/14 The OBC, at La Mercè festival
The Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya (Barcelona and Catalonia National Symphony Orchestra – OBC) will participate in the Festival of Barcelona, La Mercè, with a concert where the most popular classical music repertoire will be played. The show will take place on September 22nd and 23rd at Avinguda de la Catedral, one of the most emblematic places in Barcelona’s Gothic Neighbourhood.
With the attendance of the main conductor, Pablo González, the OBC will offer a musical performance playing music from all over the world, many of folk dance, with Brahms, Albéniz, Dvorák and Rossini works. A collection full of rhythm and energy, in accordance with La Mercè, synonymous with celebration and fun. There will also be a musical memoir of Salvador Dalí, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of his death.
Thus, the OBC will leave for a while (two days) its official space in Pau Casals room, at the Auditori, to celebrate with all the inhabitants the Barcelona’s big party, which will take place from September 19th to 24th. La Mercè is one of the most important events in Barcelona, bringing together thousands of people and a lot of events throughout the city: music, performing arts, and popular culture celebrations as human towers, correfocs and giants.
