19/7/13 Welcome to XV World Swimming Championships in Barcelona

This year, gastronomic offer is in charge of El Principal with an exclusive Mediterranean food selection which combines the Catalan tradition with contemporary and innovative touch.

From 19th of July to the 4th of August, Barcelona will host the expected Swimming Championships located in the Olympic Stadium of Montjuïc. A mandatory appointment for all the sport lovers specially the ones who love aqua sports.

Organized by International Swimming Federation (FINA) and the Real Federación Española de Natación (the Spanish Federation), this event wants to get together people from different cultures and countries and show them the swimming competitions, synchronized swimming, jumps, open water swimming, water polo and jumps from tall height.

Moreover, this year, the restaurant El Principal will offer in the Club Restaurant in Village Planeta Agua an exclusive Mediterranean food selection combined with Catalan tradition with contemporary touches which will be served at noon and at night from Sunday to Thursday from 10h to 01h and from Friday and Saturday from 10h. to 03h. Also, tapas, drinks and cocktails will be served in its two terraces continuously, accompanied with different kinds of music and entertainment.

The principal headquartes of Barcelona that will host the Championship are Palau Sant Jordi, a very important sport symbol from Barcelona built in 1990 for the 1992 Olympic Games; the Piscinas Bernat Picornell, also known as the “Olympic Ring of Montjuïc Mountain”; the Piscina Municipal de Montjuïc, a privilege space where the best jumps will take place above the Catalan capital and finally, the Moll de la Fusta, the site chosen for the public to see the open water swimming and the high diving competitions.

Some of the popular names that stand out in the XV World Swimming Championships 2013 are Ona Carbonell, several times winner championship in synchronized swimming in Spain; Mireia Belmonte, considered the best Spanish swimmer of all times with two Olympic medals and Anna Espar, the Barcelona girl who won the silver medal in feminine water polo during the Olympic Games in London.
