“BCN retrats”, from Manuel Outumuro
Outumuro and the visual culture
Manuel Outumuro began as art director, illustrator and graphic designer but when he reached his 40 years decided to enter the world of photography, where he quickly stood out for his ability to capture the small gestures and peculiarities of the numerous and diverse characters who have posed for him. Outumuro has published five books of photography, he has worked with fashion magazines and other high-impact publications such as Vogue, Elle, Zest, Marie Claire, Telva, La Vanguardia, El Mundo and El País.
Closely linked to the world of Spanish cinema, he has photographed almost all the actors, actresses and directors of Spanish cinema, making his work a visual memory of the last 20 years of Spanish culture cinema.
In front of his camera have posed great figures of Spanish culture and art as Antonio Banderas, Alaska, Miguel Bosé, Penelope and Monica Cruz, Javier Bardem, Ferran Adriá, Paula Echevarria, Paco Leon, Eduardo Noriega, Pedro Almodóvar, Elsa Pataky, Pau Gasol and Oscar Tusquets, among many others. Not only figures of Spanish culture have been models for Outumuro, but he has also photographed many international celebrities like Ricky Martin, Amber Valetta, Nicole Kidman, Jessica Lange, Zidane, Juliette Binoche, Rinko Kikuchi, Ryan Reynolds, Lang Lang and Diane Kruger.
