Santa Llúcia Fair 2017 in Barcelona
As every year the most important Christmas fair in Barcelona comes back to fill the avenue of the Cathedral of Barcelona with all the magic and Christmas spirit until December 23.
More than 200 years of tradition in the Ciudad Comtal
This past 24 of November, the most popular and longest-running Christmas fair in Barcelona was inaugurated, the Santa Llúcia Fair. A fair that takes place every year in the Pla de la Seu on the avenue of the Cathedral of Barcelona, one of the most visited places of the city by residents and of course by tourists who come to admire the beautiful Gothic Cathedral of Barcelona.
This year, it is particularly special because the fair celebrates its 231 years, and to commemorate in a special way all these years of tradition, a numerous additional activities will join to the fair that has 287 stands of merchants and artisans.
In these stands, visitors can find all kinds of traditional Christmas decorations for their homes, sweets, nougat, toys, and figures for Christmas mangers.
Activities for the whole family in Barcelona
The activities organized for the celebration of the Fair of Santa Llúcia’s anniversary include the children’s favorite, Tió de Nadal, who every day will distribute nougat and candies to the little ones.
The parade of the traditional Christmas Carassa of Barcelona will also be present, along with the celebration of the 24th Festival of Christmas Traditions and Customs in Catalonia, presenting the prize the Honor Fair Award to one of the merchants in the fair.
