Grec Festival Barcelona
The Grec Festival gathers each year theater, dance, music and circus lovers internationally and has become a reference in the performing arts world at European level. Each year is filled with activities that exceed the level of the previous year, and this year could not be different. This festival has become the main attraction of Barcelona summers; we don’t need to wonder why.
Musicians such as Kyle Eastwood, Diego el Cigala, Joan Manuel Serrat or Ismael Serrano will be part of the music program, but it doesn’t stop there, in theater we can enjoy “The closure of love”, “Els mots i la cosa”, or “Love & Shakespeare”. Performances like “Peeping Tom”, “Fantasies d’un temps” and Jordi Cortés featuring the Kiakahart Association are highlighted among the entire dance program.
Additionally, in this festival you can also enjoy the art of circus, this year starring “Pals, “Fuga” and “Il n’est pas encore minuit”, something different from other performing arts festivals.
Children also have part in this program, the most complete of the season, with plays like “Faboo” or “Petjades” and a multilingual and interactive shown entitled “Electric Babyland” in which the smallest pf the house – and their parents – will enjoy to the core.
The main location of the festival, and from which it receives its name, is the Grec Theater, an outdoor amphitheater built for the Universal Exposition of 1929 in Montjuïc. But the fact is that since its creation in 1976, the festival has grown so much that today extends to many other theaters, cultural centers and public spaces of Barcelona.
Do not miss these performing arts shows in which there is room for all possible styles, formats and topics. Omm Hotel 5* in Barcelona recommends the Grec Festival, a festival with a long history and international prestige: the perfect plan for summer nights in Barcelona.
