Jessica Lange – Unseen
It wasn’t until the 90s, when Sam Shepard gives her a “Leica M6”, that the actress of “Tootsie” and “Blue Sky” decides to resume her photographic activity, a passion that has accompanied her throughout her entire life. Almost a documentary, the photographs of her travels in the United States, France, Finland and Italy among others, transport us to a life market by landscapes and people, where the inner world of the artist relates to her environment.
But Mexico, with “its lights and big nights” in the words of Lange herself, is the main protagonist of this exhibition of 134 photographs taken over the past 20 years. Her adventures everywhere and nowhere, when nothing is obvious no more, indolently guide her thoughts and gaze with no other intention than to be in the world instead of in front of it.
Jessica Lange doesn’t stay in the shadows or the invisible, but in the unseen. There she is, discreet and delicate: looking. Behind mirrors, windows and other objects, always separating herself from the rest, barely touching the world, she shows us humbly in a split of a second the space, time and light that surrounds her.
This exhibition has been configured in two different series: “Things I see” and “Mexico, on scene”, and contains photographs that have not been exposed before and can be enjoyed for the first time in her career.
These unexpected sequences are a walk through the private diary of impressions of Jessica Lange, and they are not to be missed. If you are a photography lover, you will definitely enjoy this very personal exhibition of the actress. Check it out at Arts Santa Monica until June 28th. Omm Hotel & Spa Barcelona recommends this exhibition and wish you a pleasant stay in this wonderful city.
