Every year the Mercè has a characteristic poster to announce the festivities, in this year’s poster, work of the illustrator Miguel Gallardo, we can see on it a cheerful woman, realistic and smiling. With this woman, Gallardo is trying to project the image of the Barcelonese women and its purpose is that everyone can feel related to the image. September 22th is the day chose to have the ceremony of the pregó in Plaza Sant Jaume at 19h, this the official ceremony to begging with the celebrations and it will be officiated by the Barcelonese writer Javier Pérez Andújar.

We can enjoy shows like the traditional pyrotechnical show called Correfoc de la Mercè, or the Ballada de las sardanes, and the most important event, the pyromusical show of the Mercè, this Sunday 25th of September at 22h in Av. Maria Cristina. This pyrotechnical show is an incredible way to close the festivities and it overcomes year after year. This year’s guest city is Paris, and it will be presenting to us its music, culture and tradition by the hand of several artist.

Nights of music and theater

Different activities and events will be hold in the streets, squares and city parks of Barcelona for the next four days, in which the nights will be, entertain with music and theater for all the family. The musical offer it is bringing us recognized artist like the French songwriter Manu Chau, who is coming as representative of Paris; Fangoria, the mythical Spanish band lead by Alaska and Nacho Canut; Love of Lesbian and Juan Magan, among others.

The theatrical poster is showing representations like “La rue de ma vie” a dance show by the BCN City Ballet at Passeig Til·lers and the acrobatic show “Nuage” of the parisian theater group Monfort Théâtre taking place at Parc de la Ciutadella. However, if there is an event that marks these holidays, it will have to be the mapping projections at Plaza Sant Jaume, which this year is call “Coloroma”.
