Looking forward to spending some time away from the city? A place where  you can actually disconnect from routine, traffic and day to day chores… and feel the sea very, very close? This Easter, if you’re in Barcelona, hop on a bus or rent a car and discover the coastal region of the Costa Brava! Only an hour away from the city, you will find some of the most charming towns and off the track beaches of the Catalan coast.

S’Agaro, which seduced the golden Hollywood of Elizabeth Taylor, Ava Gardner and Orson Welles; Begur, with a captivating old town full of narrow streets that have a thousand stories to tell; the triad of Llafranc, Calella and Tamariu, where you can feel in the air the anecdotes of all of those sailors and fishermen who lived there; the legendary Cadaqués, hometown of Dalí and inspiration for great artists such as Marcel Duchamp, Federico García Lorca, Pablo Picasso… The Costa Brava draws a map of countless wanderlust landscapes full of life, history and art.

Tragamar in Calella de Palafrugell

One of our favorite spots is undoubtedly Calella de Palafrugell, which is an hour and a half away from Barcelona. In this old fishing village, made out of white houses with navy blue details and surrounded by eight small beaches, you will find a lovely, friendly atmosphere. Everyone is welcomed with a smile. Furthermore, the food is unbelievable!

Right at the beach, in front of the sea, stands one of the best restaurants of the Costa Brava, the Tragamar. With a privileged location and an all Mediterranean soul, the Tragamar is synonymous of sun, breeze, calm, sea, prawns, grilled sardines, sand, salt, fish, some shade, rice, silence, waves, potatoes, olive oil , horizon…

Its menu, based on fresh fish, seafood, tapas and salads, offers from original recipes such as a sushi-style tuna carpaccio to more traditional dishes such as the infallible Catalan “recuit de Fonteta” for dessert.

Therefore, at our luxury hotel in Barcelona we recommend you visit the Costa Brava when in Barcelona this Easter. Enjoy some time breathing in the fresh air of the seaside and take pleasure in some of the best Mediterranean food!
