And the Oscar goes to… our chefs!
This year, the Elton John Foundation’s Oscar Party had a very familiar Spanish touch (and flavour)… The special menu for the dinner, which brought together about a thousand guests and celebrities from Hollywood, was designed by our gastronomic advisors, the Roca Brothers from El Celler de Can Roca! The local press praised it as the best dinner of all the parties thrown until now. More than 7 million dollars were raised for the fight against AIDS and the guests couldn’t but admire the food at the event. Congratulations, chefs!
Joan Roca traveled to Los Angeles, along with a team of chefs from El Celler de Can Roca, to personally prepare this dinner that took place on March 4, after the ceremony. This “has been a great opportunity to spread our country’s cuisine and products” said the eldest of the three Roca Brothers.
For the menu, Joan remained loyal to El Celler’s roots and essence. He chose dishes from his family tradition which were prepared with local and Spanish products that can be found in California, such as Manchego cheese or olive oil. Some of the dishes that surprised and fascinated the attendees were the appetizer truffle brioches, the pularda cannelloni, the vegetable consommé with marinated scallops or the Chardonnay sea bass from California with lemon, truffle and hazelnut gnocchi, the Manchego cheese salad with pickled onions, caramelized walnuts and saffron… A proposal, in short, that turned the party into a gastronomic experience with Spanish flavor.
Aren’t we lucky here, at Hotel Omm! Where we can have such a gastronomic experience made in El Celler de Can Roca every day at our restaurant Roca Moo. Where we can enjoy a casual bite and some tapas with the Roca’s touch at our Roca Bar. And where, with the arrival of the good weather, we can even enjoy this little pleasure in our rooftop Terrace with unique views to Gaudi’s Casa Milá.
When in the city, eat, dine or have a snack like a star at our five-star hotel in the center of Barcelona.
