Palau de la Música Catalana

Palau de la Música is one of the most known auditoriums in the world due to its magnificence. Orfeó Català commissioned this work in order to provide a space to be music, culture and art. Thus, choral singing got presence and recognition.

With regard to architecture, the project was carried by a genius of Catalan modernism, Lluis Domènech i Montaner. The project has a high quality and originality and a remarkable technological advance. Hence, a structure of iron was included to allow the closure in glass.

The auditorium was designed for music. For orchestra and instrumental music as well as singing and choral recitals. Still, over the years, the Palau has hosted other cultural activities such as theater, political and playful acts. Nevertheless, today it still maintains its identity with classical and popular music. This space is considered a sanctuary for music in Catalonia.

Exhibition Lluís Millet i Pagès. A life and his dreams

Among the diversity of cultural events in Palau de la Música, now we can find an exhibition devoted to the founder of the Orfeó Català, Lluís Millet i Pagès, who ordered the construction of Palau de la Musica.

It is an exhibition of life and music: Exhibition ‘Lluís Millet i Pagès. A life and his dreams’ organized by the Centre de Documentació de l’Orfeó Català (CEDOC) that you can visit until 14 February at the Foyer of the Palau de la Música.

The exhibition is a discovery of life and professional trajectories of two teachers. Thus, it appears divided in six different areas; four dedicated to the founder Lluís Millet i Pagès, and the other two dedicated to his son Lluís Maria Millet i Millet.

Hotel Omm, hotel in Paseo de Gracia, shows its commitment to culture. A culture that consolidates Barcelona as a modernist city with an exceptional historical and cultural heritage.
