Barcelona: streets full of art
Keith Haring against sida:
This mural, painted in 1989 by the artist Keith Haring, has a clear and concise message: “Together we can stop AIDS”. You can find it in the street next to MACBA and after 25 years it has become in a emblem of the Barcelonba street art. The artist died soon after that, victim of the disease.
The ants, a visual poem:
It is a poem by the Catalan author Joan Salvat-Ppasseit that reads “Towards the sun/by the friendly routes/the ants” (Camí del sol/per les rutes amigues/les formigues). The words of the poem form a line of ants. It can be found in Paseo del Born with Rec St.
The world is born with a kiss:
Nothing more eternal and ephemeral at the same time than a kiss. And nothing more eternal that thousands of pictures of kissing couples, made in ceramic and forming a big mural with a kiss. Joan Fontcuberta is the artist behind this great idea that was created under the motto “Free living” for the Tricentenari celebrations.
To the castellers:
This monument by Antoni Llena was ordered in 2004 and was supposed to be set in front of Santa Caterina market, although at the end it was installed with some modifications in Sant Miguel Square, behind the City Hall, in 2012. In the base it can be read verses of the poet Paul Celan “I’m more me if you are more you”; a tribute to this poet and the castellers spirit.
Norm editorial bet for the clear line, influenced by the Belgians, and asked Daniel Torres to decorate the exterior of their warehouse in Poblenou. A beautiful and nostalgic tribute to the adult comics of the 70s.
