World Press Photo’14 at CCCB
5,754 photographers have been involved in its tenth edition, and nearly 100,000 projects were sent to the jury. Pictures are shown in nine categories: news, current affairs, contemporary issues, daily life, portraits, portraits in the environment, nature, action sports and sport features.
The exhibition, organized by the Social Vision Photographic Foundation, shows through impressive snapshots current affairs of the world as the Gaza conflict, the clothing factory collapse in Bangladesh, the attack on the Boston Marathon or the other one in Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi.
The photo shot by John Stanmeyer for National Geographic is the 2013 winner. It shows dozens of African migrants in Djabouti raising their cell phones looking for coverage to communicate with their families.
World Press Photo exhibition has become a must for lovers of photography, a growing audience each year, with more than 41,000 visitors last year. If you are interested in photography, or just curious to bring you closer to the global reality through images power, do not hesitate to visit the World Press Photo 2014, which will be held at the CCCB in Barcelona until December 8th.
