15/3/17 Kosmopolis 2017. The festival of literature

From Wednesday 22 March until Sunday 26, the new edition of Kosmopolis, the festival of amplified literature, will be at the Contemporary Culture Center of Barcelona.

A literary encounter

This literary meeting held biennially at the Contemporary Culture Center of Barcelona located in the el Raval neighborhood, on Street Montalegre 5, is very close to the Rambla and Plaza Cataluña. In Kosmopolis the main element is literature in any of its presentations, whether printed, oral or electronic, in Kosmopolis none of these slopes is left out.

Among the purposes that motivate the celebration of this festival is the idea of contributing to the preservation of oral literature as a patrimony of humanity, to accommodate all genres and literatures, to stimulate reading, to facilitate interaction between writers; plastic artists; filmmakers; musicians; actors; designers and scientists.

A date with art

According to its own creators, this festival renews every year the spirit that gave rise to its birth in the first place, that is to say, “to be an appointment with art and freedom inspired by an old consciousness: we are citizens of the cosmos, citizens of the universe”.

Kosmopolis brings together poets, musicians, philosophers, writers, scientists, filmmakers, storytellers, draughtsman, playwrights, journalists, editors, actors and librarians in every edition to participate in the different activities marked in its programming. This year the new edition focuses on changes in sensitivity regarding climate change, changes in culture, changes in the anthropocentric vision, understanding of non-human intelligences and the assertion of creativity. For this, there will be activities such as Dialogos K, where prominent authors will talk about their work and current literature. Constelaciones Femeninas, a program of conferences and debates in which women’s creativity is vindicated; Canal Alpha, the audiovisual part of the program that invites participants to discover the influence of literature in cinema and Robert Walser’s The Walk, a tribute to the centenary of the novel The Walk by Robert Walser.
