11/4/13 For the lovers of video art: Loop Barcelona 2013
The Screen Festival returns to Barcelona for the eleventh time from the 16 to 25 of May. The Festival, created to give exposure to artistic video creators around the world, is the largest annual video art event in Spain at the international level.
For ten days, the 16 to 25 of May, the Screen Festival will fill the Catalan capital with professionals and lovers of video art and motion picture. A unique gathering where Barcelona converts into the neurological center of the creation of video art and the ideal place for artistic interaction on both national and international platforms.
Since the beginning of the Festival in 2003, there have been two main areas of action: one public and the other professional. On one side, the Screen Festival exhibits video art throughout the entire city in institutional places including museums, galleries, and art centers in Barcelona (to check all the information: Screen Festival). On the other side, the Screen Festival will also reel the projects in independent and autonomous centers so that the festival reached various publics. Apart from the Festival, Barcelona will also house the Loop Fair, the most important fair of professionals in the sector where we will see new video art trends by a selection of national and international projects and galleries.
Like every year, the best art piece or proposal will be judged by a team of experts and honored with the Loop Award.
Furthermore, this year the Loop 2013 adds a new section called Loop Studies, an event that will take place on May 22-25. A space for discussion and debate, the themes will touch the worries and challenges that emerge in the field of production, diffusion, and direction of artistic movies.
Whether you are a video lover or not, this gathering is something you cannot miss because art is, after all, necessary for the development of all of civilization.
